Short Dawg a studious rapper who mastered his flow in college at the University of Texas A&M. He went there on an academic scholarship majoring in Philosophy. “All of a sudden I ended up in the school paper as the rapper on campus, I was doing radio interview at the school it was crazy” says Short Dawg
After the end of freshman year he decided to just focus on music. Short Dawg was discovered by Russell he was one of the first to sign to Russell Simmons Music Group. A joint venture that RSMG made with Jermaine Dupri’s SoSoDef Essentially resulted in Short Dawg being housed under RSMG/SoSoDef. Things didn’t go as planned over there. Short Dawg’s career made a giant leap when Lil’ Wayne featured him on “Me and My Drank” he made the decision to expect the offer to the Young Money Cash Money crew after two years of friendship with Lil’Wayne. Short says “being in the studio when I was with RSMG was just like me and my manger or someone from the label. But now with YMCM I get to record with my peers. Which is always a challenge it makes me work harder, it feels good just having people around you to help with the music; they’re there to aid you whenever you need a hook or a verse. Rather than being there to point you in a direction. Short Dawg recently released Southern Flame Spitta Vol. 4 a mixtape that has a compilation of industry beats with him freestyle over them. The mixtape has received over 20,000 downloads. Moreover, without ever utilizing a pen and pad, or Blackberry to write his lyrical punch lines he seems steadily on his way to superstardom.
